When chatting about the soulful offering, Sjava detailed the significance and inspiration behind ‘Amakhehla’, revealed that the song’s chorus was recorded in 2019, and addressed an appropriate contributor for the song.

Sjava rose to prominence as one of South Africa’s most successful performers in the second half of the 2010s, blending hip-hop, R&B, and African pop. Singing and rapping nearly entirely in Zulu, he creates emotionally charged sounds about relationships and family matters, and his tracks seamlessly reveal how much contemporary R&B and trap share with ancient Zulu musical styles. After breaking through with his gold-selling debut album, 2016’s Isina Muva, he gained international recognition when he appeared on the Black Panther soundtrack in 2018.

Jabulani Hadebe was born and reared in the small South African town of Bergville. After migrating to Johannesburg, he first achieved fame as an actor, participating in various South African soap operas and producing music for television series ranging from dramas to dance programs.
