Lindokuhle Mgedeza, better known by his stage name Mlindo the Vocalist, is a rising star in the South African music scene. Born on October 5, 1995, Mlindo’s journey to musical success began when he joined the hip hop group Flow Riders in 2010, where he showcased his vocal talents.

In 2014, Mlindo founded the a cappella group White Bread, following his departure from Flow Riders. White Bread quickly gained recognition, winning prestigious awards like Search for the Stars at uShaka Marine World in Durban. Mlindo’s vocal prowess continued to shine, and in 2017, he clinched victory in the talent competition Golden Search in Richards Bay, catching the attention of record label Afrotainment, owned by DJ Tira.
Mlindo’s talent didn’t go unnoticed on social media either. His captivating covers of popular songs, including a stripped-down version of DJ Maphorisa’s “Midnight Starring,” garnered widespread attention and went viral. DJ Maphorisa discovered Mlindo’s talent on Twitter and wasted no time in signing him to his label, BlaqBoy Music, before later securing a deal with Universal Music Africa.
On February 6, 2018, Mlindo made waves with his feature on Sun-El Musician’s track “Bamthathile,” which topped charts on South African radio stations. He then released his debut single, “AmaBlesser,” featuring and produced by DJ Maphorisa. The song skyrocketed to success, earning quadruple platinum certification from RiSA in May 2019.

As Mlindo’s star continued to rise, he remained grounded and used his success to support his family. He secured a home for his brother and provided assistance to his unemployed mother.
Following the immense success of “AmaBlesser,” Mlindo unveiled his debut album, “Emakhaya,” which dropped on September 21, 2018. The album received platinum certification from RiSA and amassed nearly 45 million streams across the country by May 2019. His second single, “Macala,” soared to number one in South Africa, solidifying Mlindo’s position as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. At the 25th edition of the South African Music Awards, Mlindo earned three nominations, including Best Newcomer of the Year, Best Produced Album, and Best Afro Pop Album, further cementing his status as one of South Africa’s most promising talents.
