Musa Appreciate Makamu, better known as Musa Keys, is a rising star in the South African music scene. Despite initially aspiring to become an architect or engineer, Musa dropped out of Damelin, where he was studying Sound Engineering, to pursue his passion for music. He started making music at just 13 years old, playing the keyboard at church. Over time, he honed his skills as a music composer and producer, eventually gaining recognition in the industry.
Career
While Musa Keys initially explored trap music, he found his true calling in the Amapiano genre. Known for his infectious melodies, he has produced hit songs like “Hey Wena,” “Samarian Boy,” and the chart-topping “Vula Mlomo,” featuring Amapiano heavyweights Sir Trill and Nobantu Vilakazi. His music has resonated with audiences, earning him a dedicated fan base.
In 2021, Musa achieved significant success with his single “Vula Mlomo,” which was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). His talent and unique style were further recognized in 2023 when he won the Metro FM Music Award for Best Styled Artist, competing against esteemed artists in the industry.
In addition to his music career, Musa Keys has established his own record label, Keys Recordings, through which he releases and distributes his music. He aims to leave a lasting impact on the Amapiano genre and South African music as a whole.
Throughout his career, Musa Keys has released several notable songs and albums, including his debut album “Samarian Boy” in 2020 and “Tayo” in 2021, which means “a source of joy” in Nigerian. His previous albums include “Widlysm” and “The Streets Are Calling.”
